What to See and Do and Other Activities

Historic Port Fairy
The town has more than 50 buildings classified by the National Trust and most within easy walking distance.

The Wharf area
At its peak in the 1850s, the port was the second busiest in Australia.  Wool, wheat and gold were loaded onto great sailing ships bound for England. The wharf area is still a busy fishing port, watch crayfish and abalone being unloaded.

Griffiths Island
At the south end of Gipps Street there is a footbridge across to Griffiths Island. There is a track around the island which includes the Mutton Bird Viewing point and the lighthouse on the island's eastern extremity.

Shipwreck Walk
The walk is 2.1 km and runs from the Surf Club to the mouth of the Moyne River

Lady Julia Percy Island
Take a cruise out to the largest colony of fur seals in the Southern Hemisphere on Lady Julia Percy Island from the wharf.

Tower Hill
Tower Hill was declared Victoria's first National Park in 1892.  Koalas are in abundance and in the late afternoon you can usually spot kangaroos. The cheeky emus are known to steal meat from a barbeque.

Port Fairy Beaches
Choose from the patrolled East Beach, Peas Soup lagoon or secluded beaches further out.
