How To Get There

Although there is a light airfield (Warnambool Airport 146 Mailors Flat-Koroit Road) east of Port Fairy, the nearest commercial airport is Avalon (for certain Jetstar flights) and Melbourne’s main airport Tullamarine.
Port Fairy is serviced by Public Transport - from Melbourne (Southern Cross, Spencer Street) by train (vline) to Geelong and connecting bus to Warrnambool. Here there is a connection bus to Port Fairy, but less frequently than the bus to Warrnambool. www.vline.com.au/  Connecting coach services arrive in Warrnambool from Apollo Bay, Port Fairy, Portland, Mount Gambier, Hamilton,
Casterton and Ballarat.
Of course if one is driving from Melbourne there is a freeway to Geelong. The choice is then to take the direct route (A1 Princess Highway) via Colac, Campbertown and Warrnambool (290 kms, 3 hours 30 minutes driving time) or the very scenic Great Ocean Road (B100) (6 hours driving time). If touring, an attractive alternative is to drive to Sorrento and take the ferry across to Queenscliff and join the Great Ocean Road at Torquay. For direct driving instructions why not use the Google Route Planner. Once you have selected your accommodation scroll down to the bottom of the page for the property and you will see a Google map. At the bottom enter your starting destination. A Print button at the top of the map will print off just the ‘directions’.
